This is the site of the old school house. I wonder now many little pigtailed girls and boys, in overalls, squealed as they rode the merry-go-round? Rick didn’t squeal but he looked like he was having fun!
We went over to the town after closing hours to take advantage of the low light. Rick went back to the RV to get some batteries and I walked on alone. Where once there must have been shouts of greetings and horses galloping. The ring of shovels and the sound of gunfire…now there is only the whisper of wind and the occasional squeak of a loose board.
Rick trying to get our new tow car started!
Bannock was so fascinating, when visited before, that we brought the RV up here to camp for the night. We are all alone here, now, in complete stillness. I have NEVER in my life seen the stars like I did tonight. To think that once gold miners looked up at these same stars, and dreamed their dreams, gives me a sense of wonder.
