Gaylord Maxwell has written a column for ‘MotorHome Magazine’ for 18 years. He taught the first 3 hour class I took this morning. He is one funny man! He uses humor to get his point across.

His class on ‘Full Time Rving’ was…wonderful! He ended it in a powerful way….He took out a measuring tape and said in a voice so low you could barely hear him… “Imagine that each year of my life is an inch.” And he measured out his ‘life’…inch by inch…until he reached 73. It dragged along the floor. Then he said “My life expectancy is 8 more years.” And he measured out that little bit more and held it there….”This is what I have left…if there are things that I still want to do in this life….don’t you think I’d better get busy?” “So”…he said, in his quiet voice,” how does your life measure out?” Gulp!

We ate in the school cafeteria. It isn’t like the old days…this is an all you can eat buffet…mighty tasty! We sat with another couple. She just retired from nursing and he is about to retire from teaching. The sense of connection that we feel with so many people amazes me.

The afternoon class was 3 hours on photography. Allen and Judy Bluestone, a professional photography team. Very well organized and presented. Beautiful photography…now I’m all jazzed up about taking slides again.

There was a program on ‘Travel to Alaska’ from 7-9pm. All the travel tips and the photography…I’m ready to go! When we got home we met a ‘neighbor’. She said she had just gotten home from the hospital. Turns out her husband had been admitted on Sun. They can’t figure out what’s wrong…but he sounds quite ill. Scary!
