Idaho places

July 20, 1999…..Helmer, Idaho Little Boulder Campground

Rick went back to Spring River. He caught so many fish he lost count! He’s having a ball. I took a walk all the way around the campgound. I’m going to have to buy a book on wildflowers…there are so many that I’ve never seen before.

It had been a perfect day…but as Rick and I sat in the RV at dusk…we heard a sound like water rushing. We went outside and listened to the wind gallop toward us, even as the trees overhead were yet still. Suddenly the sky lit up with lightning and the thunder roared…and the wind reached us. Rick held his coat open and I snuggled in and we watched with awe at nature’s fury. That’s how fast the storms gather here

We drove into Moscow to see the Appaloosa Museum. The Nez Perce Indians first bred these wonderful horses. They showed the saddles they rode with…wood and stretched skins…looked mighty hard on the hinny to me! We photographed some Appalossas with black storm clouds in the background.

I watched the sunrise this morning…pink with the mist rising over the meadow. And listened to the sweet call of birds at dawn.

July 22, 1999…..Harvard, ID The Pines Campground

The campground host at Little Boulder told us about another forest service campground 20 miles away whose host just told the head ranger that they won’t be back next year. I’m not sure we are ready to stay put just yet for any length of time, but we’ll check it out.

We found a beautiful little park called “The Pines”. It has electricity, ahhhhh a computer fix! It is mostly occupied by loggers that live here year around. The owner is a tiny woman that scoots around the place on one of those three wheeled vehicles…with two tiny cream colored Pomeranians, their long fur blowing in the wind.

Rick just came and got me to come and look at the doe and fawn in the field beside us. They jumped the fence while we watched…such grace.

Oh, woe is me…the scanner won’t scan…and the computer store can’t fix it. We will just have to wait until we get some place larger. However, patience has never been my long suit. (Grin) While we were in Moscow we did find a place to E-mail and mail snail mail and get stamps and do laundry and buy new shoes and use the phone and have lunch at a Mexican Cantina…sooooo the day wasn’t a total loss!

The deer came much closer to the RV tonight.
