Gaysville, VT.

Up and on the road by 6:30 or so. The trees are turning fast now with all shades of red and orange and yellow mixed in with the green. My head feels like it’s on a swivel…I can’t look long enough or around enough to see it all. You will be driving along and suddenly there will be a little pond with the trees reflected in it or a fast tumbling stream…or a white steepled church, just a glimpse, like a dream, and it”s gone. Rick stops when ever I ask but we can’t stop for every bit of beauty in this place or we would never get a mile.9_20_white_steeple

We did stop for a picture of a red chair on the porch of a white house with green window shutters, and a flock of wild turkeys at the edge of the woods, and a little covered bridge.

Gaysville is pretty centrally located to shoot fall foliage…a lot of small Vermont towns in the area. Today we went to Woodstock. It’s filled with wonderful old preserved buildings. Wonderful neighborhoods of house with picket fences and white steepled churches, and a village green with an old man smoking a pipe, and reading the paper on a park bench. I read once it had been named the “prettiest little town in the U.S.” I can believe it!

The campground is nearly deserted. We went up to the Rec hall to call Beth and there were video arcade games and no people around to watch me make a fool of my self…so we played. In police academy…where you shoot the bad guys that are jumping out from behind things…I beat the pants off of Rick! (grin) not bad for a grandma ( course I was playing against a grandpa…grin)!

The campground is next to the Swift River…we can hear the sound of the water…very relaxing. Tomorrow we will set out for Montreal to visit with Steve and crew. A definite bonus feature!
