The Sargent Farm
Yesterday, after we had finished visiting at Abe’s folks place we wandered over to the neighbors…the Sargents. They had quite a bit more money then the Lincolns and were more progressive in their farming.
The Lincoln farm was self sufficent and provided all the necessary things for their own daily lives…they were proud of that fact. But the Sargents wanted more…they wanted to make a profit. They grew more then they needed and they raised extra livestock to sell. A new way of farming was beginning.
We met this neat lady at the Sargent Farm and chatted for a bit. Much to our surprise she and her husband came out to the State Park after work to see us! Now wasn’t that a nice thing? She must have a ‘time machine’ on her side too!
