We made it over the Pass…though I did feel a bit ‘wrung out’ after. I’m not used to mountain driving and this mountain is a ‘dilly’.

We are parked in under the pine trees. There are sure a lot of ‘critters’! Squirrels chattering in the trees, Chipmunks EVERYWHERE, and birds! They say the Mesa Verde fire has driven the Hummingbirds here. I believe it. We can see a dozen or so at any given moment. Finally we went into Pagosa Springs ( about 16 miles) and bought a feeder. I can’t stand it when they hover 6 inches from your face. I know I can hear a little voice saying “feed me, feed me”! (smile

We went into town to catch up on some things. I got my hair clipped by a nice fellow at the ‘Clip ‘n Curl. He was telling me that he knew his wife when she was 16 years old but had been out of touch for a number of years. She called him…he went to visit her…and married her the next day! Guess they didn’t believe in long engagements!

There is a restaurant here, called The Irish Rose. Out of curiosity I ordered a “Irish Burrito”. It was delicious! They had stuck in a few fried potatoes…guess that was the Irish part.

When we were leaving Creede…Bill asked us to let them know if the 99 cent hamburgers were still on at MacDonald’s. As a joke we sent the following.” Urgent you drop everything and come. STOP. Big Mac’s 99 cents. STOP. However, ONLY for a limited time. STOP.” And didn’t Bill and Sally show up this afternoon! We went on in to MacDonalds and had our ‘Big Mac attack’ and a lot of laughs.

I was sitting out reading this evening and our neighbor came over. He said last year a fellow was sitting just where I was, taking a nap, he felt something wet on his neck, turned around and saw a bear had been licking him! This year they haven’t been having much of a bear problem…but it’ll be my luck to have the same bear wander by and leave bear spit all over me! ( hummm…maybe that shouldn’t be my MAIN concern!)
