A very unusual Artist

Artist Ted DeGrazia bought land in Tucson AZ in the 1950’s and in the tradition of this region he built a shrine in thanks for the land. He had a lofty goal…he wanted to build an adobe mission from the ground up. His results are amazing. This little open air ‘mission’ is unique and wonderful. People bring tokens of loved ones and leave them on the alter in a helter skelter manner I found quite touching. The artist’s whimsical  paintings cover the walls and hand hewned benches invite you to sit a spell. And in the case of our dear friends Bill and Sally Middleton (second picture from the left) appearently indulge in a bit of snuggling.
