This was a huge Pow Wow hosting 500 Indian tribal nations! A Pow Wow is more than a social gathering, it is first and foremost a sacred event, heavily steeped in tradition. There are both singing and dancing competition and the prizes are substantial….Up to $20,000 for each major category. No wonder people come from thousands of miles away to attend.
The pageantry is amazing…The dancers not only dance with skill but with passion. Even the little children are not fooling around…they have a look of complete concentration. The beat of those drums get right inside you. I felt like getting up and joining in myself!
