On Saturday we went to a civil war reenactment. It was amazingly real…the sound of guns, the boom of cannon, the thundering gallop of horses and smell of gun powder in the air. Those cannon are LOUD! The first one that went off caused people to scream and grab at their ears in shock. While this was ‘theater’ the real war was all too real. My Great grandfather was wounded twice at the Perryville, Kentucky Battle and walked with a limp the rest of his life. It wasn’t a ‘game’ to the people who lived through this terrible time.
Abraham Lincoln even recited the Gettysburg Address at the event….It was quite moving. History before our eyes and the best part was the advancing army didn’t mow me and my chick mobile over…..so I lived to tell the tale! LOL
