In this National Cemetery there is row upon row of white stones…stretching off into the distance. Tonight we’ll shoot off our firecrackers and watch the sky light up with bursts of color but it will be quiet here and dark…
The soldiers that lay beneath these endless rows of stone will not hear us celebrate our freedoms…The ones they once protected for us…sometimes with their lives.
I whispered “Thank you” as I stood here among them…I thanked them for us all.
