June17

It was such a beautiful day that Rick decided that he would like to have one last day of fishing. Seems he ended up with more sunburn then fish…but he says he had fun…a ‘man’ thing I guess. (Grin)

June 18  North Bend, Wa.

This was a good news…bad news day! The good news is everything turned out amazingly well. The bad news is…a bolt that holds the alternator broke. The tip off was the howl of the belt…not unlike the noise I once made when Rick closed the car window on my finger. (Grin) But that’s another story! The scary part was it happened late on a Sun afternoon just as we were about to start up over a mountain pass in a sudden rain storm. When I think of the possible scenarios I get goose bumps!

But instead of the dwelling on the “could of’s” on to the “Rest of the story” as Paul Harvey would say. We found ourselves in the tiny town of North Bend. There were three auto shops in town…the first two we tried were closed. We ‘crept’ along the road until we came to the third, a ‘truck plaza’. Not only did they fix the bolt…they let us stay there free overnight. We crouched down among the ‘big boys’ like a Fox Terrier in a pride of lions! But, given the circumstances, even their occasional roars during the night felt comforting.

I’ve seen some pretty sights outside my window in the mornings, but none any sweeter then this one. The ‘shop’ that picked us up, dusted us off, and sent us safely on our way!
