San Juan Bautista, CA

There were all kinds of activities going on at the Mission today. We started out going to an Indian Fest. They had a number of Indian crafts and we picked up an Indian feather and a buffalo tooth for Gabriel.

It was a ‘living history’ day so a number of folks were dressed in period costumes. The bartender at the Plaza Hotel told us the builder of the hotel, a man by the name of Zanetta, brought some liquor into town and sold $3,000 dollars of booze at a nickel a shot…in one day! Decided then and there to build a hotel.

Out behind the hotel, some Mexican ladies were making homemade tortillas, the old fashioned way. Oh…the delicious aroma!5_6tortilla_lady

The sound of Mexican music drew us across the plaza where a group of children were dancing Mexican folk dances. The whole audience was clapping along. What a joyful day!5_6mexican_dance
