Onward

May 2, 2000

Spent the day getting ready to move on…this is such a lovely spot that it’s hard…but the road beckons. We treated ourselves to a movie this afternoon. “Return to Me”. It was a good one.

We stopped in to give Kay and Howard one last hug…And to take advantage of Kay’s generous offer to allow us to hook up our computer.

On the way into town Rick abruptly pulled the car over on the shoulder, leaped out and began frantically brushing himself! Seems a bee had hit the mirror and ended up in his lap…deep in his lap. That man can MOVE! (grin)

May 3, 2000…..Atascadero, CA

What a beautiful country we live in. The drive up 101 was lovely…the ocean slipping in to view, from time to time on one side, and wildflowers covered hillsides on the other.

We’ve been spoiled by all the room we had at Santa Paula. The Atascadero All Nite RV Park has 20 feet between RVs. And we got the last space.

It was hard to say good-bye to the young family we met in Santa Paula. They are all such sweethearts. There was a stray pooch wandering around the campground and they were so worried about him. He was covered with ticks. They wrote a message to the owner and fastened it on to the dog’s collar…telling the owner to take better care of his animal. I told them they should put an ad in the paper…”Free ticks to good home…dog attached.” Well, it WOULD attract attention. Amazing how cruel some people can be.

May 4, 2000…..San Juan Bautista, CA; Mission Farm RV Park

Here we are in Steve and Adriane’s old stomping grounds. I love this area. Green hills covered with twisted oaks that cast long shadows in the evening light.

The San Juan Bautista Mission is a lovely place to visit. Not only the Mission but a large plaza, with historical buildings is a delight to wander through.

When they said ‘bathroom’ in those days

… that was exactly what they meant!

This is the season for wildflowers…and the roadsides are full of them!
