Rick snapped this picture of me sleeping after my heart procedure was done last Wed…. a deep and relieved sleep! Every time I came awake it was with a smile…it was over and it had worked!
In an ablation the surgeon threads a electrode catheter through a blood vessel in the groin to the heart and creates an electrical map of the heart that shows where the problem is and then energy is sent through the catheter to destroy the problem cells. It doesn’t always work and I was scared that this time it would not.
It took 4 hours and at one point they had to stop my heart and then shock it to restart it. The surgeon was concerned it was going to take a much more complex procedure that required doing the left side…it would have required going in through the center wall of the heart…but thank God…the simple one worked.
This was a miracle…and I feel blessed.
