The Wyman Hotel and Inn in Silverton, Colorado (www.wyman.com) is a wonderful and unique B&B. It was built in 1902 and still retains all the charm of another era.
Our room looked out over Main Street, toward the old courthouse…circa 1906. I wonder who else stood here and looked out our graceful arched windows and admired that beautiful building…almost a hundred years ago?
But I’ll bet they didn’t cuddle under a goose down comforter, later, and watch videos!
Lorraine, the Keeper of the Inn, told us she was a lawyer before she came here to live eight years ago. Talk about a lifestyle change! But she says, “I’ve never regretted it.” Tom, a former engineer, is now the chef…and believe me he cooks up a mean pancake!
She and Tom completely redid the Inn. What a job that must have been…but if all the ‘little touches’ are any indication, it was a labor of love.
Cozy in my soft downy bed I watched the morning sun flood through the windows and day-dreamed of another time. In my mind’s eye, I could hear the ‘clip clop’ of the horses passing by, and I fretted because I needed to get up so Rick could help me lace up my corset before he went to arrange livery for a trip to Animas Forks.
But then the delicious smell of breakfast floated up the stairs and through the transom window of our door. Reality snapped back in and I threw back the covers. It was a brand new day and I couldn’t wait to see what adventures it held!
