The Top of the World

Jeeps can go ‘where no man has gone before’. Well, that’s not true but they do take you some places it would be durn hard to get to any other way!07_13_billedge

Today, while Rick carved, Bill and Karen took pity on the poor ol’ carv’n widder woman’ (grin) and invited me to go along with them on an adventure. Bill has never met a rock he didn’t like and on the TOP of a mountain, up a narrow road, (read ‘goat trail’ here) was a mine he wanted to explore.

It turned out to be a fascinating place with a jaw dropping view. The mouth to the shaft was blocked off which was just as well. Bill informed us that “often there is a poison gas present in these old mines that kills you instantly and if we dropped dead he wasn’t coming in after us!”

I could smell the cool dank air drifting out the shaft. Even if it hadn’t been blocked off I’d suddenly lost any desire to go in thereā€¦
