Okay…we only made it a hundred miles before we stopped for the day. But we had a great excuse. The Oregon Zoo in Portland was just to close to pass by. This day was for the birds!
I love Lorikeets and they have a wonderful Lorikeet enclosure here at the zoo. These colorful and tame little fellows will come right down and land on you. There is nothing quite like the rush of wings right by your ear!
We were fascinated with this ‘odd couple’. They are from different parts of the world and in reality would never meet but they are best buddies.
The docent said they are never apart and are constantly giving each other signs of affection.
The little one will just reach up and run his foot down the big guy’s side…or hop up on his back and ride around there for a while. I guess it’s true…opposites DO attract!
