Lifetime Golden Age Pass

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! We woke to a clear blue beautiful day. We got up early, had breakfast and set out for the National Bison Range. On the way Rick spotted a scrapbook store in the middle of nowhere! I mean it wasn’t in a one horse town…it was in a one horse FIELD! If doesn’t show the popularity of scrapbooking I don’t know what does! I picked up a few supplies and off we went.

We spent the morning at the Bison Range. And since today was “THE DAY”! I got my Lifetime Golden Age Pass. It lets us into all the National Parks, etc., free! What a nice gift.

This is a jewel of a place. We spotted a couple of bucks with really large antlers. I think I got some pretty good shots with my 300mm lens. There were Elk, Pronghorn Antelope and, of course, Bison.

The herd was crossing the road as we got to the lower end. They were all around us…what huge beasts they are close up!

We hardly saw any cars until we got here. The main herd, ambling across the road caused a minor traffic jam!

The drive through the Range takes at least 2 hours. It really climbs. The view is incredible. It’s similar to being in a small engine plane. Coming down is a 10% grade. The hard way to find out if you have brakes!

At the entrance is a place called Burger ‘B’. They sell Buffalo burgers. I thought it was time we tried one. (You see them advertised everywhere) Turns out it tastes like a really good hamburger…only no cholesterol.

On to Missoula to take in a movie. And then, wouldn’t you know, Rick spotted a Fuddruckers. (One of my favorite places to eat)

A gorgeous pink and lavender sunset over the lake. The end of a perfect day!
