This beautiful young male tiger is one of a pair of twins at the LA Zoo. At a certain time in the wild the mother will leave her young to fend for themselves. Apparently the mother let the keepers know in no uncertain terms it was time for that ‘parting of the ways’. For a while the youngsters will continue to enjoy each other’s company but, the docent told me, when they become sexually mature they will begin to fight for dominance….and then they will be separated and revert to the solitary animal they would be in the wild. I know it’s nature’s way but it seems sad to me.
