Gonzales, Texas/ Beaumont, Texas Pioneer Village

For a history buff this area is a feast. It was in this little town of Gonzales that the first shot of the Texas revolution was fired. One lady said that she was ‘new’ here (15 years) but these folks took their history seriously and new arrivals had best do the same!

Tucked out of sight, down a wandering path is a village of 8 restored buildings that let you walk back in history I have little problem taking that walk…sometimes it feels more real then the present to me. From the fancy house of the wealthy to the humble log cabins of most…people laughed and cried, bore children and died. If you listen…these rooms will talk to you.

We traveled on to Beaumont,Texas. It’s getting to look more tropical and feels muggy. So muggy that when I put on my glasses to read the map…they fogged over!
