Parelli Ranch

We were on the way to Durango yesterday and noticed the cattle trucks by the road side, a sure sign of cattle being gathered near by. And sure enough we spotted them down in the valley below us. We had a ball photographing this piece of the old west and we watched them until the cattle had been loaded and were on the way.

The Parelli method of natural horsemanship is famous world wide and the headquarters and home of Pat and Linda Parelli is in Pagosa Springs, Co where we spend our summers. It was a rare treat to see these guys and gals in action.

We got to talking to one of the cowboys and he invited us to come to the bar-b-cue at the ranch that evening. We ended up eating great food and, as twilight fell we gathered around the campfire and listened while cowboys sang the great old songs.

What a wonderful experience! These are good people and this was a special day, one that we will always remember….
