The mountain carving of Crazy Horse has been in progress for 50 years. It’s one mile in back of this scale model.
“My fellow chiefs and I would like the white man to know the red man has great heroes too” wrote Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear when he invited sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski to the Black Hills to carve Crazy Horse.
What an amazing endeavor…and they pride themselves on the fact that not one penny of federal funds has gone into it.
The Indian Museum of North America has thousands of rare Indian artifacts…Rick and I spent hours poking through it.
This Indian dancer is from the same tribe as Crazy Horse…He is a Lakota.
