This week we met an amazing artist by the name of Bill Swets. His ‘zoo’ of fantastical creatures provided us an afternoon of sheer delight !
He says he never had toys as a child…he had to invent his own. As an adult, he is still ‘playing’ but with the talent and skill of a grownup. Would that we were all able to carry that ‘no limits’ freedom of childhood expression into later life and with as much exuberance as Bill Swets !
This collection of welded art is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. There’s not even a sign to direct you to this amazing free display. We finally had to stop and ask someone but believe me it was worth the hunt!
Billl’s 150 or so creations range from tiny creatures several inches high to huge dinosaurs that tower into the sky.
Art comes in all forms and this man has found a way to express pure joy in metal! From space ships to tiny ants to a ‘bug’ high in the sky…his creations are all full of fun and whimsy.
Art is meant to evoke an emotion. Bill Swets not only tickled my ‘funny bone’ he made me feel like a child again…now THAT is a real artist !
