We had the honor of sitting with ‘Mrs. General Custer’ today! At least the wife of the actor that plays the role. Joy Austin said that her husband Tony has long had a fascination with General Custer and the chance to play the role was “a dream come true.”
Tony Austin’s portrayal of Custer has been seen by thousands, and he has been featured in television shows from Uruguay to Europe.
This is what he had to say. “Being a part of this wonderful show has allowed me a window into the not too distant past, as I now have a far better understanding of what the warriors on both sides felt on the dusty blood drenched hill. They were brave men who died valiantly. This re-enactment honors the fallen men, both Indian and soldier.”
I was struck by how like the photographs I’ve seen of the real Custer, this very skilled actor looks!
