Zion Park

Zion was the hottest place in Utah today..81 degrees. We hiked back to “The Emerald Pool” The path crosses a river and wends it’s way down a deep canyon with live oak trees. The air was sweet with the rich smell of growing things. The further we walked downward the more the eddies of cool damp air brushed across our faces.10_23_emerald_falls

The waterfall feeding the pool is a mere trickle at this time of the year. We walked under it and felt the cool mist..and stepped carefully along the trail, holding on to an old iron chain bolted into the cliff side. The ground beneath our feet was slippery red earth. And below that huge boulders held the algae green waters from which the pool gets it’s name.
