La Purisima Mission

The La Purisima Mission was founded in 1787, destroyed by an earthquake in 1812 and rebuild in a different location. A pretty place…one of the biggest Missions in CA. We explored the mission and the grounds. They have beautifully maintained gardens and huge old trees. Some of the Missions are small and rather cluttered. This one is so pure and classic in line. It is a joy to photograph.

Took in the rest of Solvang this afternoon. Snapped a picture of one of the windmills and sampled some more of their dreamy pastry.6_20_windmill

Steve wrote last night. Said a gopher snake crawled out on the sidewalk in front of he and Gabriel. Gabriel said “that snake scared my eyes!” (Grin) I’m writing him a story of our trip to the LA Zoo. Going for a little “long distance” grand parenting.

Today was father’s day. I had bought Rick a shirt and a little boot “model” for his woodcarving. Heard from both boys…with ‘Happy Father’s Day’. We’re blessed in our kids!
