Ellsworth, ME

Right near this RV park is a shop called “MAINLY MAINE” just full of temptations!

I had Rick pose there…since he’s my biggest temptation (smile) I bought another birdhouse and a Maine sweatshirt. Then we drove up to Acadia Park but as we got nearer…our nice weather turned foggy…so we turned off to Bar Harbor…and right back to nice weather.

Bar Harbor is a fun place. Rather touristy and I loved it. A million little shops to tour, with everything from junk to treasures. Rick bought a model of a boat to build when we get back to Hemet. The town is very quaint…it overlooks a beautiful little harbor. We watched the fishermen off loading their lobsters.

Then we saw a 4 masted schooner sailing into the harbor…what a sight while she is under sail! AND she was going to take on passengers for a 2 hour sunset sail to Frenchman’s bay… So we sailed on the “MARGARET TODD” She is a 151 feet schooner….the only 4 masted sailing ship still working in Maine waters.

What an exhilarating experience!! To smell the salt air and feel the spray and brace your feet against the deck when the sails fill and snap around with a loud crack and she leans into the wind. THE CAPTAIN would gaze up into the sails and bark out orders. The ship creaks and moans like a live thing. And a awesome sunset and then a full moon…with the moonlight shimmering on the water…and the lights of Bar Harbor. A never to be forgotten experience!!
