Monte Vista has an annual event called the “Ski Hi Stampede. This year they had Ronnie Milsap in concert. It’s amazing what ‘name’ talent this small town offers. Last year we saw Charlie Daniels.
We took in the little carnival before the show. It’s always a hoot to watch the youngsters…young and ‘not so young’ having fun.
The concert was magic. We were watching from rodeo bleachers. By the time the music started the sky had filled with ominous black storm clouds and the multi-colored strobe lights looked like some kind of strange lightning against that dark sky.
Ronnie Milsap belts it out and that rich soaring sound along with the rhythmic stomping of boots on the bleacher floor and the bass beat of the music feels like a second heart pounding in your chest.
