Colorado Springs “Magic Town”

Today we visited ‘Old Colorado’ which consists of blocks of art galleries, unique shops, and restaurants. And found the most fascinating gallery I’ve ever been in.

I’ve long been a fan of Michael Garman…who sculpts the most incredibly small detailed ‘scenes’….like a brick tenement with people lounging on the front steps. And a trash can filled with identifiable junk. And an old lady hanging out of the upper window. You would be able to see the light on behind her and every piece of furniture in the room and the glow from the street lamp nearby. Authentic to the last detail.

In the gallery is a ‘pay to go in’ section called “Magic Town”. It’s a darkened room filled with a miniature town…’peopled’ by both sculptures and ‘real people’ (holograms…that talk and move about.) You feel like a voyeur peeping in the windows…the detail is so real and so amazing!
