When we arrived at Flagstaff it was early afternoon so we took a little jaunt over to Oak Creek Canyon.
The leaves have mostly fallen…leaving only the skeletons of branches to frame the high cliffs and pillowing the ground with a bouncy crunch.
Down by the water’s edge the air smells so damp and sweet and cool. It invites you to take off your shoes and socks and wiggle your toes in the clear water.
