We drove into Monte Vista for a Charlie Daniels Concert tonight. It was being held in the rodeo bleachers. What atmosphere…the rodeo stock milling in corals next to the stage. The sky behind dark and stormy…a rainbow on one side…a sunset on the other…unreal!
They had some really talented musicians on stage but when Charlie Daniels steps up to the plate, you can forget the others. That ol’ boy commands the stage. His guitar playing is wonderful but when he picks up the fiddle!! I’d close my eyes and the music would fill me up inside. You can’t even think…the world is nothing but the rhythm pounding. The whole place was vibrating with a thousand pairs of boots keeping time to the beat. When he sang “When the Devil came to Georgia” I thought the grandstand was going to collapse!
