Blue Creek Lodge

Some kind soul clued us in to a real treat in this valley. Once a week, on Wed morning, a gent brings in sour-dough to make pancakes at the Blue Creek Lodge. Pancakes and sausage patties…that’s all they serve and the place was jammed to the rafters. The fellow came into the dining room to visit with someone. He looks like an old cowboy…white beard and a worn Stetson hat. People obviously knew him because the compliments were being yelled from all over the room. He just gave a shy grin and pulled his hat. The compliments were well deserved!

This was a big ‘food’ day. Dinner was a Southwestern Pot-luck. This place is filled with Texans so we were expecting some good western ‘vittles’ and we were right! The couple we sat with, Wanda and Stu, have a Travel Supreme, the unit we are interested in. They invited us back over to visit for the evening…and let us poke in closets and move furniture and play with ideas in a way you could never do in a RV sales lot. It’s a pretty, homey 5th wheel.

When we came back, stumbling through the dark..our neighbors, Vicky and Doyle, and their grandson Garret popped out of their door to say good-bye. They had left their door open to listen for us. In the morning they are pulling out. What nice people…they have the best sense of humor…and the ability to laugh at themselves! A very endearing trait.

It never fails to amaze me how a RV park is like a small town. You ‘neighbor’ here like I remember from my childhood. I’ve missed that more than I realized!

Rick loaned Stu a tool and this morning he brought it back…along with a batch of home baked brownies! I asked him to look over the rest of the tools and see if there wasn’t something else that caught his fancy. Wanda’s brownies are delicious!

Of course, in some ways the neighborhood is going to the dogs!
