Creede shopping

There was a nice gentle rain all night. Just right for falling asleep by and certainly a help to a tinder dry Colorado.

We visited a few more of the little shops in Creede. The photo shows how near the cliffs are to the town. Further up the street and to the left is where the Fire Dept. has tunneled into the cliff side to make a fire station. It’s also where the Mining Museum is located and where the woodcarving classes were held.7_15_creede_cliffs

The old fashioned ‘Ice Cream Parlor’ looked so inviting that we went in and picked out our favorite flavors and sat down to people watch.7_15_ice_cream_parlor

Another neighbor/friend is pulling out tomorrow. Amelia and Gordon have invited us to camp with them in Quartzite in Jan. They are lovely people and we share a lot of interests.

Himself just came in from river fishing. The river is next to the RV park so it’s very handy. He caught a BIG one. The kind that you can’t just pull in…you have to swim them around till they tire out.

You can meet a hero in the strangest places. Rick met one in the restroom this morning. He’s staying in one of the house-keeping cabins because he’s afraid to sleep in his tent. Two nights ago he and his friend were in ‘Fillmore’… each sleeping in a small tent. A bear attacked them in the night and pulled down the tents. He crawled out to see the bear mauling his buddy and he picked up a stick and beat on the bear till it ran off. Courage isn’t the lack of fear…it’s forging on in the face of it. He’s a 16 year old HERO that, right now, is too scared to go to sleep at night.
