Creede cemetary

We went up to the old cemetery above Creede today. Bob Ford, the man that killed Jesse James, is buried near there.7_7_creede-cemetery

Bob lived for 10 years after his sneaky attack on Jesse but in constant fear of death. He always sat facing the door of his saloon in Creede with a drawn revolver on the table. He may have been a dangerous man but he already had died a thousand deaths.

As Ford entered his saloon a horseman who had been riding slowly down the road hastened his gait. Pulling up to the entrance of the Exchange the rider dismounted and pulled a shotgun from beneath his pack.

A second later the shotgun was thrust through the door and a voice spoke, “Been waiting for this, ain’t you Bob Ford?”

Ford whirled around, pulling at his gun, but he never had a chance. “Oh, the dirty little coward who shot Mister Howard and laid Jesse James in his grave” died as he had lived…by the gun.

Since we were near town already we stopped in for some “fine dining” along Main Street. Actually it was a great hamburger. The folks standing in line had better chow down fast though…a thunderstorm is about to rain on their parade!

The folks next door, Diane and Joe, invited us to join them for dinner in South Fork tonight. What nice people…we had such a good time!
