Ferndale is said to be one of the most perfectly preserved communities in the West. Main Street has numerous original 19th century buildings and the whole village is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
We walked the full length of Main Street on both sides and explored quaint little shops. Finally we decided we were hungry. There was a little outdoor café…and we ordered lunch. The sandwich was delicious, the soup tasted like dishwater with a few beans thrown in! You win some, you lose some.
There are original Victorian houses all over town that are wonderful examples of the beauty and workmanship of that style.
I think this must be a great place to be employed as a house painter!
