Bristol, Indiana

Right in the middle of Amish countryside, on Tuesday and Wednesday, they hold a flea market in the town of Shipshewana.

A HUGE flea market…a 1000 venders! We walked for hours and didn’t nearly cover it. It’s a wonderful place to people watch and find great bargains at the same time!

The Amish don’t want to be recognizable in photographs…so I didn’t take the dozens of pictures that grabbed me. They are sooo photogenic…the tiny little girls with their bonnets and the little boys with their suspenders and straw hats.

They certainly march to a ‘different’ drummer. You can see the grove worn in the pavement from the horse’s hooves.9_26_buggy_sign

Amish children’s dolls don’t have faces…for the same reason they don’t want photos of themselves. They consider it a ‘graven image’.
