It was a hot walk up to the hacienda from the caretaker’s cottage. And to step into the deep shade of the hacienda’s porches was a welcome relief.
After a long hot day on the cattle range it must have been a welcome blessing to have this cool place to relax. Of course Leo Carrillo and his guests (the likes of John Wayne!) would have been the been the ones to benefit. But lest you pity the poor cowboys…Leo built a cantina just for them on the property.
