Rocky Mountain National Park

We were standing on this bridge in Rocky Mountain National Park and suddenly from behind us a herd of elk came across the road and down into the river. The young male stayed quite close to us at the end of the bridge and picked a ‘bush’ to attack. He snorted and flailed his antlers at the vegetation for a long time The ranger told us he was doing that to ‘impress the ladies’ with his strength. Frankly, they looked more interested in feeding than his display.09_11_river_elk,jpg
